The Newcastle Orienteering Club is setting the course and providing excellent maps. This is not a race, but an introduction to the sport of MTB orienteering. The Dungog Common is approximately 200 hectares of undulating Crown Land situated on the western boundary of the town of Dungog. The entrance is about 2kms from Dungog Railway station. There are some beautiful views from the hill tops. So take the time to smell the bush flowers. (Be careful of the bees).

There is a variety of roads and tracks, including 16kms of single track that has been built by local MTB enthusiasts.  The Dungog Common has no internal fences, just a boundary fence. So if you don't cross a fence you won't get lost. Mountain bikes or hybrids with fat tyres are probably best for this ride.

Remember, it is all downhill back into Dungog for tea afterwards!
